Question 1 of 8

A free Saturday, nothing planned. What sounds best?

    How the quiz works

Each answer leans towards one or two of five solo era types, from the café regular to the day-tripper. The type with the most points is yours. The meter is separate: it counts how many of your answers lean towards doing things on your own, and puts you at one of three steps: just starting, getting into it, or fully in it.

The three missions come from the kinds of activity your type enjoys, at a level that matches your meter. Pick one and give it a day and a time this week.

    What "solo era" means

A solo era is a stretch of time when you choose to do things on your own, on purpose: the film you would have skipped, the table for one, the train to somewhere new. It is not about being single, and it is not a status you declare. It is a set of things you get better at, one small step at a time. Online it also goes by another name, solomaxxing, and this is the reading of it we like best: practice, not a pose.

Questions about the solo era quiz

What does "in my solo era" mean?

That you are choosing time on your own and making something of it: going out alone, trying things without waiting for company, and enjoying it a little more each time.

Do I have to be single to be in my solo era?

No. A solo era is about what you do with time on your own, not about who you are dating. You can be in one with a partner, a busy friend group, or neither.

Is "just starting" a bad result?

No. It only tells you where to begin. Small steps are small on purpose, and they count.

How do I get further into my solo era?

One solo plan a week, done rather than just planned. Before you go, write down how nervous you feel from 1 to 10, and again afterwards. When the number drops, try something a little bigger.

    Is this a personality test?

No. It is a light, quick check on how you like to spend time alone, not a diagnosis of anything.
