Solo Era is an iPhone app that helps you practise doing things alone, such as eating out, going to the cinema or taking a day trip, one small mission at a time. It is for anyone who wants doing things alone to feel more ordinary. Solo Era is not therapy or medical care.
What Solo Era is
The idea behind Solo Era is that doing things alone is a skill, and skills are practised. Eating in a restaurant by yourself, seeing a film nobody else wants to see or visiting a new town on your own are small, ordinary things. They feel bigger than they are because most people rarely rehearse them.
The app turns that into a routine you can follow:
- Missions. Each mission is shown as a mission ticket. The task stays up front. Turn the ticket over for the instructions and what the mission helps you practise, then start with a tap or a swipe.
- Seven categories and five difficulty levels. Categories are food, movement, culture, travel, everyday, solitude and people. Level 1 is the gentlest step and level 5 is the biggest.
- A weekly mission. It gives you a place to begin each week. You can do more whenever you want, or write a custom mission of your own.
- Before-and-after ratings. You rate how nervous you felt before and after a mission. The progress view plots those numbers over months, alongside XP and a weekly streak.
- A Solo Pass. A personal pass that keeps the same code as your story grows.
- A journal. Keep a photo and notes with each completed mission, or write a free journal entry of your own. You share only when you choose.
Every mission quoted on this site is read out of the app's mission library, not retyped. If you want to see what a mission looks like, the guide to solo activities and things to do alone show real examples.

Screens show example data.
Who it is for
Solo Era is for people who want doing things alone, such as a meal, a film or a day trip, to feel more ordinary: introverts, people who recently moved, people between groups of friends, and anyone who would simply like to go more often. The guides on this site are written by the Solo Era team, and the editorial policy explains how they are researched, fact-checked and corrected.
We keep this page short on purpose. We only state things that can be checked on the App Store listing, in the app or on this website.
What Solo Era is not
- It is not therapy or medical care. It does not diagnose anything or treat anxiety, loneliness or any other condition. If you are struggling, please talk to a doctor or someone qualified. See does Solo Era replace therapy for the longer answer.
- It is not a dating, matching or social-network app. It does not introduce you to other people.
- It is not a promise. Practising small solo steps may help some people feel more at ease on their own. We cannot promise how you will feel.
Pricing, privacy and safety
Solo Era is free to download, and a subscription is required to start missions. Prices and any free trial are shown in the app and depend on the offer and eligibility. Apple handles billing. The pricing page explains how to cancel an App Store subscription.
The app needs an account, and your journal and progress are stored on our backend so they come back on a new phone. The full details are in the privacy policy, and is Solo Era safe walks through them in plain language.
