Munich is cheapest and easiest alone on a Sunday. The Bavarian state museums charge EUR 1 that day, the Kunstareal puts several of them within a short walk, and communal tables at the Viktualienmarkt and in beer halls make eating alone normal.

The Kunstareal in Maxvorstadt packs several museums close together, so you can plan a whole day without a transit decision.

Free sites
- NS-Dokumentationszentrum, Maxvorstadt. Free, Tuesday to Sunday 10 to 19, open on public holidays, with a free media guide on your own smartphone (NS-Dokumentationszentrum). Time alone here is easier than with a group.
- BMW Welt, Olympiapark area. Free admission, Monday to Saturday 7:30 to 24:00, Sunday and holidays 9 to 24:00. It was closed from 20 October at 18:00 until 22 October at 12:00, 2026. The BMW Museum opposite has a price we did not confirm (BMW Welt).
- Muenchner Stadtmuseum interim show "What the City", in the former armory. Free, Tuesday to Sunday 11 to 19; the rest of the museum is closed for renovation (Stadtmuseum). Filmmuseum screenings run in the same house; see its schedule and cinema alone for tips.
- Haus der Kunst, at the edge of the Englischer Garten: Wednesday to Monday 10 to 20, closed Tuesday; free on the last Friday of every month 16 to 22; otherwise EUR 11 to 15 depending on the ticket (Haus der Kunst).
One big day: Deutsches Museum
The Deutsches Museum on the Museumsinsel is open daily 9 to 17, last admission 16:30, closed 8 days a year. A day ticket is EUR 16, rising to EUR 18 from 2 November 2026 (reduced 9, then 11) (Deutsches Museum). It is big enough to fill a whole solo day.
Market and beer-hall etiquette alone
- Viktualienmarkt. Stalls run Monday to Saturday, usually around 8 to 20, and the beer garden Monday to Saturday around 9 to 22 (Sundays on nice days); the Schrannenhalle is Monday to Saturday 10 to 20. Stand-up stalls and shared tables make eating alone easy (Viktualienmarkt, German).
- Hofbraeuhaus. Open daily 11:00 to 24:00, kitchen until 22:00, with communal tables. Ask "Is this seat free?" at a shared table and sit (Hofbraeuhaus).

Green space
- Botanical Garden Munich, Nymphenburg: in winter 2026/27 hours are shorter, but the outdoor Freiland is free in that period. Exact hours were not confirmed (Botanischer Garten).
- Olympiapark has a park with a lake and walks. Hours and prices were not confirmed. The Olympic Tower has been closed since 1 June 2024 and is expected to reopen in October 2027, so do not plan around it (Olympiapark).

Three areas to wander
- Maxvorstadt and the Kunstareal. Pinakotheken, Lenbachhaus, Brandhorst and the NS documentation centre.
- Altstadt, Viktualienmarkt and Hofbraeuhaus. Markets, the stadtmuseum and a beer hall.
- Schwabing and the Englischer Garten. We did not confirm specifics, so go for a walk and see; the Haus der Kunst is at its edge.
A one-day solo itinerary (Sunday)
- Morning. Alte Pinakothek for EUR 1, opened at 10.
- Midday. Walk to the Museum Brandhorst or the Pinakothek der Moderne.
- Afternoon. The NS-Dokumentationszentrum (free, open to 19).
- Evening. Dinner in Altstadt. The Viktualienmarkt beer garden may be closed on a Sunday, so the Hofbraeuhaus (open daily, communal tables) is the safer choice.
On a weekday, swap in the Viktualienmarkt for lunch and the Deutsches Museum for the afternoon.
