Berlin is one of the easiest cities to be alone in: several big sites are free, a number of museums stay open late, and nobody notices one person with an audio guide. Sort your plans by budget and by time of day, and use Thursday as your late-night anchor.
Checked 2026-10-21 against official sites. Where an official page gave no number, we leave the number out.
Free, and worth a half day
- Topography of Terror, Kreuzberg. Free admission, daily 10:00 to 20:00, with outdoor parts open until nightfall. It is self-paced with an audio guide (Topography of Terror).
- Berlin Wall Memorial, Bernauer Strasse. Admission is free. The visitor and documentation centres are open Tuesday to Sunday 10 to 18, the last tower ascent is at 17:45, and there is a digital guide for your smartphone (Stiftung Berliner Mauer).
- Futurium, Mitte, near the main station. Free entrance. Open Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Sunday 10 to 18, Thursday 10 to 20, closed Tuesday. Interactive and self-paced (Futurium).
Heavy topics are often easier alone, because you can stand as long as you like and leave when you want.
